by xrammyx on Dec.03, 2009, under My World
DALLAS – A woman with two young children in the back seat of her car led police on a high-speed chase on Thursday morning.
The chase, which began with a traffic stop in the Addison area, quickly made its way north on the Dallas North Toll Way and switched directions before ending on the President George Bush Turnpike.
The unidentified female driver, who was being pursued by Dallas County constables and Addison police, stopped her gold Ford Taurus sometime before 10:30 and was apprehended.
The two children, who appeared to be toddlers, were removed from the vehicle.
Law enforcement officials held the children at the scene and attempted to keep them warm in the 33-degree weather.
No further details were immediately available.
90 Busted in Drug Gang Raid in North Texas
by xrammyx on Oct.22, 2009, under My World
DALLAS – Warrants for more than 90 people in North Texas were issued Wednesday as part of a nationwide roundup led by the Drug Enforcement Agency.
The multi-agency raid started before sunrise. Sources told FOX 4 many of the suspects had ties to a Mexican drug gang.
Joy Cisco lives down the street from where one person was arrested. She said flash bangs thrown into the home were so loud they woke her family up.
“It was right before my alarm, between 6:30 and 6:45 a.m. It was very loud. It set off the car alarms,” she said. “They had a SWAT truck in front, the house surround and drug sniffing dogs around vehicles over here.”
FOX 4 learned that an Allen police officer fired shots inside the home, but no one was hurt.
Cisco hopes the raid prompts others to join their neighborhood watch group. She said it is the only way to keep the streets quiet.
“It’s okay to be nosey and be aware of who you are living next to,” she said.
The DEA is expected to release more details about the raid during a press conference Thursday.
Teen Carjacked En Route to School
by xrammyx on Aug.31, 2009, under My World
DALLAS – A carjacking led to six school lockdowns, a full-scale search and an accident involving a Dallas police patrol car on Monday morning before the suspect was finally caught.
The whole thing started at 6:45 a.m. when a man pulled a gun on 17-year-old Jennifer Saenz at her home in the 300 block of S. Waverly Drive.
Police say the man stole her 2000 turquoise Mazda Protege and her pink Razor cell phone.
A short time later, the man was spotted on foot near Illinois and Ravinia. As a precaution, DISD put six schools in lockdown in the surrounding area, just as students and parents were arriving for morning classes. The six schools were:
Moreno Elementary – 2115 S. Hampton Road
Cowart Elementary – 1515 S. Ravinia Drive
Henderson Elementary – 2200 S. Edgefield Ave
Salazar Elementary – 1120 S. Ravinia Drive
Stockard Elementary – 2300 Ravina Drive
Hall Elementary – 2120 Keats Drive
Students were allowed into the schools, but parents were kept out.
Finally, just before 9 a.m., police spotted the suspect near Illinois and Wilbur and gave chase.
One of the responding officers turned on her lights and sirens to get through the intersection of Brooklyn Ave. and Oak Cliff Blvd.
But unfortunately, a motorist driving a Buick Armada didn’t see the officer and drove into the intersection. The officer’s squad car T-boned the Armada, knocking it on its side.
The driver was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, and the DPD officer was treated at the scene.
Other officers captured the carjacking suspect and are questioning him now.
