Vikings RB Peterson gets 109 mph speeding ticket

by xrammyx on Dec.03, 2009, under My World

Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson said Thursday that he’ll be more careful after police clocked him driving 109 mph on a suburban Minneapolis highway over the weekend and cited him for speeding.

Peterson told The Associated Press he "got a little speeding ticket. I need to be more aware of the speed I was going and not let it happen again."

Peterson was pulled over just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday while driving his BMW in a 55-mph zone on state Highway 62 – a normally busy stretch of road known as the Crosstown that connects Minneapolis with southern and western suburbs, Edina police spokeswoman Molly Anderson said. She said Peterson was given a citation and allowed to drive away after what appeared to be a "very routine" traffic stop.

Anderson said police clocked the 24-year-old Peterson going 109 mph, but Peterson told the AP he wasn’t going that fast.

"But I know it was a speeding ticket, and that’s what I got issued for," Peterson said.

The stop happened the night before Peterson ran for 85 yards and a touchdown in a 36-10 victory over Chicago. The All-Pro also fumbled twice, with one of them a turnover for the Vikings.

Peterson said he was headed to the downtown hotel where the team stays the night before home games. He said he was not late at that point.

"After I got pulled over, then I was late," Peterson said.

Peterson, a first-round draft pick out of Oklahoma from Palestine, Texas, led the NFC with 1,341 rushing yards in his rookie season with Minnesota in 2007, then led the league last season with 1,760 yards rushing. He’s third in the NFL this year with 1,084 yards.

Peterson has become one of the sport’s most popular players, with a high national profile that includes an endorsement with Nike. He has no known prior off-the-field troubles, and he’s active in the community with charity work. Peterson annually hosts a Special Olympics event at the team’s practice facility, one of his favorite causes.

Minnesota (10-1) plays at Arizona (7-4) this Sunday night in a matchup of division leaders.

Babies in Car during Police Chase

by xrammyx on Dec.03, 2009, under My World

DALLAS – A woman with two young children in the back seat of her car led police on a high-speed chase on Thursday morning.

The chase, which began with a traffic stop in the Addison area, quickly made its way north on the Dallas North Toll Way and switched directions before ending on the President George Bush Turnpike.

The unidentified female driver, who was being pursued by Dallas County constables and Addison police, stopped her gold Ford Taurus sometime before 10:30 and was apprehended.

The two children, who appeared to be toddlers, were removed from the vehicle.

Law enforcement officials held the children at the scene and attempted to keep them warm in the 33-degree weather.

No further details were immediately available.

Woman Raped at Burleson Rest Stop

by xrammyx on Dec.03, 2009, under My World

BURLESON, Texas – Police are asking for help in identifying a man who sexually assaulted a woman at a rest stop.

Investigators said a 26-year-old woman was driving alone on her way to Fort Worth when she pulled over at a rest stop on Interstate 35W in Burleson.

The man allegedly approached her as she tried to leave the bathroom area. He threatened her with a knife and then raped her.

The man also demanded money, which she didn’t have. He took some of her personal belongings and left, police said.

“At this time we don’t think the suspect is a homeless or transient person, but we can’t rule that out. He may be living locally or in the area. That’s why we need the public’s help to get this guy identified and get him off the street,” said Burleson PD Cmdr. Chris Havens.

Police said their suspect has short blond hair and a buzz haircut. The victim also recalled tattoos on his arms and hands. He wore an open circle earring on his left ear lobe, she said.

Space Alien Search Costs School Worker His Job

by xrammyx on Dec.03, 2009, under My World

MESA, Ariz. – A former Arizona school district employee is accused of using school computers in an experiment to find space aliens, costing the worker his job and the district more than $1 million.

Schools officials say Brad Niesluchowski, who was Higley Unified School District’s information technology director, downloaded free software on district computers in 2000.

The program, known as SETI(at)home, uses Internet-connected computers worldwide to analyze radio telescope data in an experiment to find extraterrestrial intelligence.

But Superintendent Denise Birdwell told the East Valley Tribune that the program also bogged down the district’s system and interfered with technology use in classrooms.

Birdwell said it will take more than $1 million to fix the problem, including removal of the SETI software. She says police are conducting a broader investigation.

Niesluchowski resigned from the district Oct. 22.

His lawyer did not return calls for comment.

Uhhhh a million dollars to remove the software, what in the world is this school district doing, replacing the whole school districts computers, geezus, you just remove the software and do the rest on the other computers, wow! should not cost a million dollars.

TX Teacher Taped Kids in Bathroom: Cops

by xrammyx on Dec.03, 2009, under My World

HOUSTON – A charter school teacher is accused of secretly videotaping students while they were using the bathroom.

Craig McDonald, a 59-year-old instructor at Raul Yzaguirre School for Success in southwest Houston, was scheduled to be in court Wednesday, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Investigators say he put a miniature camera inside a fake smoke detector in the bathroom. The camera then sent images back to a monitor on McDonald’s desk.

Police seized several computers and other electronic equipment from his home, the paper said.

After being charged with improper photography/visual recording on Monday, McDonald posted $2,000 bail.

If convicted, McDonald could face up to two years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

The school has about 1,250 students of elementary, middle, and high-school age, according to its web site.

Toddler Tells Police of Grandma’s Death

by xrammyx on Dec.03, 2009, under My World

DALLAS – Dallas police say a 2-year-old boy is now a witness in his grandmother’s homicide investigation.

A relative dropped the boy off Tuesday at the Southeast Patrol Substation on Jim Miller Road. Sources said his statements led police to believe that something had happened to his grandmother.

Officers later found 35-year-old Zulma Salmeron dead inside Room 11 at the Luxury Inn Motel along C.F. Hawn Freeway.

Police now believe Salmeron’s boyfriend, Jose Gonzales, dropped the boy off at the relative’s house. That relative instead took him to the police station.

“About that same time, there was a single car accident that occurred a few miles away. The driver [Gonzalez] was probably the last person to see the grandmother, who we were looking for,” said Sgt. Bruce McDonald.

Gonzalez was taken to a local hospital following the crash. He has since been charged with murder.

Police have not revealed details about a possible motive. But a report states that Salmeron was in the process of moving out of the couple’s apartment.

The boy is currently in state custody. His grandmother had been caring for him while his mother is in Houston.

Dallas Police Improperly Cite Drivers for Not Speaking English

by xrammyx on Oct.24, 2009, under My World

WTF is wrong with Police Officers in Dallas, how in the world can they give tickets because someone can’t speak English, we know we want them to speak English but hell give them a ticket for not speaking English….. Man the Dallas Police department needs some re-training of their departments and take a look at the law book again….remember the saying, said by many Mexican-Americans, they may run the block, but the Mexicans run the whole town….

DALLAS  —  Dallas police officers have improperly cited drivers for not being able to speak English 38 times in the past three years, Chief David Kunkle said Friday.

The discovery came after a woman was pulled over earlier this month for making an illegal U-turn and was given a ticket for being a "non-English speaking driver."

The police chief said the citations are disappointing for Dallas, a city where the Latinos make up 44 percent of the more than 1 million residents and nearly 45 percent speak a language other than English.

"I was I guess surprised and stunned," Kunkle said. "We area very diverse community."

Kunkle said his department’s computer system for citations has a pull-down menu that includes a law requiring drivers of commercial vehicles to speak English. The chief said he believes the federal law was misapplied to local drivers of private vehicles.

At least six officers wrote the citations, including one who wrote five of them, Kunkle said at a news conference. The officers and their commanders are under investigation, and Dallas police also plan to look beyond the last three years to see if other citations turn up, Kunkle said.

On Oct. 2, Ernestina Mondragon was pulled over by Officer Gary Bromley, a rookie who was still under supervised training. He gave her a ticket for not speaking English along with citing her for making an illegal U-turn and failing to carry her drivers license.

"I wanted to tell him," Mondragon told The Associated Press in Spanish on Friday. "I couldn’t talk back to him out of respect."

Mondragon was driving her 11-year-old daughter to school when Bromley stopped her. She had forgotten her purse with her license in it while darting out the door that morning after her daughter missed the school bus.

"I felt humiliated. Sad," she said. "I wanted to cry but I couldn’t. The anger wouldn’t let me."

During the exchange between her and the officer, Mondragon said she used the limited English words and phrases she knows.

"He asked me if I spoke English. I said I speak a little and understand it," she said.

Mondragon said court staffers seemed puzzled by the charge. The court ultimately dismissed the "non-English" ticket and driver’s license citation after Mondragon presented her license.

Kunkle said the outcome of the other 37 no-English citations is unclear. Mondragon was surprised to hear others had been cited and said she’s glad she said something so it can stop. She and her family are considering a lawsuit.

From now on Dallas police will not give commercial drivers tickets for being unable to speak English, Kunkle added, saying that was a job for other law enforcement agencies.

As part of their training, future police officers hear from various groups representing Dallas minority and refugee communities, Kunkle said. Texas also offers the written portion for a regular driver’s license in Spanish, said Department of Public Safety spokesman Tom Vinger.

by xrammyx on Sep.23, 2009, under My World

“Don’t hate my father,” Mackenzie Phillips tells PEOPLE.

But in a tell-all book out Wednesday, the former childhood actress reveals that her dad, musician John Phillips of the ’60s band the Mamas and the Papas, engaged with her in a long-term incestuous relationship.

Phillips, 49, who has survived drug addiction, arrests and divorce, writes in the book “High on Arrival” that she was already a star playing a boy-crazy teen on the TV sitcom “One Day at a Time” when her father had sex with her on the night before she was to marry Jeff Sessler, a member of the Rolling Stones entourage, in 1979.

by xrammyx on Jun.16, 2009, under My World

I don’t see how this could vindicate this officer with what we have seen in the original video. I don’t care what the officer says….article

I still believe that the officer should of used better judgement in taking control of the situation, heck there was someone on board in the ambulance going to the hospital, can anyone say Ryan Moats all over again!
