by xrammyx on Oct.20, 2008, under My World

This is great news for the Terminator fans and they are estatic over at the wiki board for terminator. Keep up the great work FOX.

Stated earlier Michael Hinman had said that Terminator was out, but it looks like he was wrong again as well as he was wrong with Jericho.

Michael Hinman is a great reporter, but sometimes you just don’t know what FOX is going to do.

Fox gives full order to ‘Sarah Connor’ – Entertainment News, TV Renewals & Rejections, Media – Variety

“Terminator” is far from being terminated.

Fox has just given a full-season order to “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.” Cast and crew were informed of the decision late Friday.

Back-nine order was far from certain; show has been struggling in its Monday night timeslot. But “Sarah Connor” has developed a fan base and some positive critical attention along the way.

“Sarah Connor” was preempted last week due to baseball playoff coverage, but in its last airing, on Oct. 6, averaged a 2.3 rating and 6 share among adults 18-49, which was up slightly from the prior week.

Warner Bros. TV is behind “Sarah Connor,” which stars Lena Headey in the title role, as well as Thomas Dekker, Summer Glau, Brian Austin Green, Richard T. Jones, Garret Dillahunt, Leven Rambin and Shirley Manson.

Josh Friedman, John Wirth, James Middleton, Mario Kassar, Andrew Vajna and Joel Michaels exec produce.

U.S. Pilot Ordered to Shoot Down UFO Over England

by xrammyx on Oct.20, 2008, under My World

This is awesome news….can’t wait to read the rest of the files

FOXNews.com – U.S. Pilot Ordered to Shoot Down UFO Over England – International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News

A former Top Gun said Sunday he was ordered to shoot down a massive UFO over Norwich, England, 50 years ago.

RAF controllers told U.S. pilot Milton Torres to “lock on” and launch all 24 of his rockets over the city.

But as he came within seconds of firing at the alien intruder — “the size of an aircraft carrier” on his radar — it vanished at 10,000 mph.

The amazing close encounter is revealed in secret Ministry of Defense X-Files which are being declassified Monday.

Milton said, “It was some kind of alien snooping over England. I guess we’ll never know what it was.”

The incident happened in 1957 when Milton was a 26-year-old U.S. Air Force lieutenant based at RAF Manston in Kent, England.

At 11 p.m. one night he was ordered to scramble in his F-86D Sabre fighter to attack a “bogey” hovering above Norfolk.

Speaking about it publicly for the first time, he said: “I was told I would be firing a complete salvo, all 24 rockets. I was pumped up — this was the sort of thing that happened before a war.”

He got the UFO on his radar and closed for the attack at the Sabre’s top speed of almost 700 mph — then it disappeared off his screen in a flash.

Milton, now 77, said: “I was smoking, as fast as I could go. This thing had a different propulsion system. It was not an airplane.”

The flyer said he was visited afterwards by a sinister security official and warned not to tell anyone — so he kept silent until now.

The close encounter is in 19 files made available online yesterday by the National Archives.

Viewers With Voices

by xrammyx on Oct.12, 2008, under My World

Press Release

Launched on Independence Day, Viewers with Voices declared their independence from the old “business as usual” way of calculating television ratings with the slogan The ear of the leader must ring with the voice of the people-Woodrow Wilson
ViewerswithVoices.com is about making the consumers voices heard. ViewerswithVoices.com hopes to bring about a ratings revolution by suggesting bringing in the cable and satellite companies via their electronic devices (DVRs, Cable Boxes, Tivos, ect.) and having them send numbers from their systems anonymously. In addition, they are suggesting factoring in, online streaming and downloads from iTunes and Amazon Unbox.

The Nielsen Ratings System is a statistical sampling of people who are chosen to make your television viewing decisions. From 1937 to present day, this has been the lynchpin of the television universe, for both network stations an advertisers. Their current way of calculating ratings may have worked back in the late 1940s and 1950s when there were only 3 channels and a significantly lower population, however people today don’t think sampling 25,000 Nielsen families that report daily is enough to represent the more than 250,000,000 current television viewers.

A website can count every time a person visits the site. A turnstile at the subway can count every single person who enters or leaves the subway system. A man with a hand-click-counter can count every egg that is laid by a chicken.
The Nielsen Ratings only counts what ONE in every 10,000 Americans is watching on television at any given moment. (That is assuming that every single one of those 25,000 people is accurately and religiously using their “little black box”.) That is only .01% of the population. The other 1.5 million monitored on paper diaries can’t get word back in enough time to make the numbers count.
More and more people are commenting “Advertisers want my money. Networks want my eyes. The reality is though…..I don’t matter!! I have no say in what is broadcast on network television, and most likely neither do you.”

According to their own website, the Nielsen Ratings System is going to change with the coming technology. ViewerswithVoices.com welcomes an open dialogue between the ultimate consumer, the viewers, and the system that is known as the “gospel” of tv ratings.

Hopefully in the near future, people will stop saying “I have a television, why don’t I matter!” and start saying, “ I have a television and what I watch does matter”.

Use this as a press release…

Latinos 08 on PBS tonight!

by xrammyx on Oct.08, 2008, under My World

Check out this show for all your news about latinos. I have to say that I consider myself as Mexican-American but this has to be a great movie to watch.

Latinos ‘08 – a new documentary from Phillip Rodriguez.

Latinos are less cohesive than other voting blocs, and they do not fit the black/white racial binary that has long shaped American politics. This documentary examines how today’s candidates and advocacy groups are trying to mobilize and attract this unpredictable group of voters. Will McCain manage to win back Latino defectors, in light of his party’s harsh rhetoric on immigration? Will Obama succeed in securing the votes of the many Latinos who supported Hillary Clinton during the primaries? Another subject of inquiry will be the effectiveness — or lack thereof — of Latino politicians in advancing Latino interests and promoting Latino unity. As these politicians enter the upper echelons of American politics, they face inevitable pressure to abandon their ethnic identity and constituencies. Will the Latino electorate coalesce nonetheless, united around the immigration issue and hemispheric foreign policy considerations? Or will ethnic considerations be trumped by class, education and other factors? In investigating such questions, Latinos ‘08 sheds light on an important part of America’s future.

Latinos are the most recent wave of new participants in the U.S. electoral process. Two previous waves – Irish Americans and African Americans – have much to teach us about the various ways new voters behave. Irish Americans, incorporated by Democratic political machines like Tammany Hall, forged a strong alliance that endured through the 1960s; African American voters remain united around a civil rights and social/economic welfare agenda.

Latinos ‘08 will investigate whether Latinos, like Irish and African Americans, will coalesce as a bloc. With low rates of naturalization and low turnout among those who are naturalized, Latino voters have yet to achieve the level of political participation of other groups. Those who do vote constitute a volatile and increasingly divided electorate. In 2004, for example, the Latino vote was roughly split between the two parties.

How are today’s candidates and advocacy groups trying to mobilize and attract this unpredictable group of voters? This documentary considers current strategies, from get-out-the-vote campaigns to bilingual blogs to mariachi theme songs. Which of these strategies are perceived to be effective? What more substantive policy initiatives might engender Latino loyalty?

Another question is the effectiveness – or lack thereof – of Latino politicians in advancing Latino interests. Although the Congressional Hispanic Caucus now has a record 21 members, Latino elects do not enjoy the same influence on their ethnic constituents as the Irish of Tammany Hall. Further complicating matters are the scandals in which prominent Latino politicians have recently been mired. Roberto Suro, former head of the PEW Hispanic Research Center, speaks of “missed opportunities” and complains that Latino elected officials lack strong Latino-centered agendas.

The 2008 election will serve as an important prognostic for the direction of Latino politics. The possibilities are manifold. Will anti-immigrant rhetoric forge a cultural and political bond among Latinos, as the privations of the Depression united an earlier generation of ethnic voters? Or will ethnic considerations be defeated by other factors? Will Latinos, who are twice as likely to describe themselves as Independents, contribute to the development of a third political party? In exploring these questions, Latinos ‘08 sheds light on an important part of our American future. Latinos ‘08 features interviews with a wide range of prominent Latinos, each of whom shares his or her perspective on the upcoming presidential election and beyond. Interviewees include former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development for the Clinton Administration Henry Cisneros, Political/Marketing Consultant Lionel Sosa, Columnist Ruben Navarrette Jr., Political Commentator Leslie Sanchez, Reverend Luis Cortés, and Columbia Professor Rodolfo de la Garza, among others.

The 180 guests included Joan Rivers, Barbara Walters, Billy Joel and wife Katie Lee, “Sopranos” star Steve Schirripa, comedian Chevy Chase, music executive Tommy Mottola, and Donald and Melania Trump.

Stern once told listeners he surprised Ostrosky last year with an engagement ring — while they were naked in bed.

Unarmed Coffee Shop Waitress Nabs Fleeing Bank Robbery Suspect

by xrammyx on Oct.04, 2008, under My World

This is great, I love stories like this!!

FOXNews.com – Unarmed Coffee Shop Waitress Nabs Fleeing Bank Robbery Suspect – Local News | News Articles | National News | US News
An unarmed coffee shop waitress in Hillborough County, Fla., tackled and subdued an alleged armed robber after he hit the Valrico State Bank on Friday, Bay News 9 reported.

The Da Silva’s Coffee Shop employee had been trained in Germany as a police officer, but she was only half the size of the suspect she took down.

Local police said suspect Jeffrey Merritt, 44, ran past Da Silva’s on the way to his getaway car after robbing the bank.

The waitress — the Tampa Tribune reports she wished to remain unidentified — reportedly saw Merritt running with something and looking behind him. She chased him down, yelling, “Freeze or I’m going to shoot” and then tackled him.

She did not have a gun, but the bluff worked, and the suspect surrendered.

“I knew she was a trained officer, but I didn’t know what that really meant,” Karen Raga, a co-worker, told The Tampa Tribune.

Bystanders then helped the waitress sit on Merritt until police arrived.

Human remains found at Fossett wreckage site

by xrammyx on Oct.03, 2008, under My World

I am happy that they found the remains I really hopes it him so they can put him to rest the proper way. RIP Mr. Fossett. My prayers are with the Fossett family

Remains found at Fossett crash site – Life- msnbc.com
MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif. – Federal investigators said Thursday they found human remains amid the wreckage of Steve Fossett’s airplane in the mountains of eastern California, just over a year after the millionaire adventurer vanished on a solo flight.

The remains were found among a field of debris that stretched 400 feet long and 150 feet wide in a steep section of the Sierra Nevada, the National Transportation Safety Board said.

Some personal effects also were found at the crash site but investigators would not describe them in any detail.

“We found human remains, but there’s very little. Given the length of time the wreckage has been out there, it’s not surprising there’s not very much,” said acting NTSB Chairman Mark Rosenker said. “I’m not going to elaborate on what it is.”

The mangled debris of the plane was spotted in the air late Wednesday near the town of Mammoth Lakes and was identified by its tail number. Investigators said the plane had slammed straight into a mountainside.

“It was a hard-impact crash, and he would’ve died instantly,” said Jeff Page, emergency management coordinator for Lyon County, Nev., who assisted in the search.

Coroners to probe DNA
NTSB investigators went into the mountains Thursday to figure out what caused the plane to go down. Most of the fuselage disintegrated on impact, and the engine was found several hundred feet away at an elevation of 9,700 feet, authorities said.

“It will take weeks, perhaps months, to get a better understanding of what happened,” Rosenker said before investigators set off.

Search crews and cadaver dogs scoured the steep terrain around the crash site in hopes of finding at least some trace of his body and solving the mystery of his disappearance once and for all.

Rosenker said searchers found enough remains at the site to provide coroners with DNA.

Searchers familiar with the mountainous wilderness noted the many coyotes and other wildlife in the area, and Madera County Sheriff John Anderson said: “It’s quite often if you don’t find remains within a few days, because of animals, you’ll find nothing at all.”
